The Village of Neskowin

Neskowin Village

If you have not been to Neskowin, you have missed one of Oregon's greatest treasures.  A quiet village of only 170 residents, Neskowin is as peaceful as it is beautiful.  Just offshore is the tree-line Proposal rock where Slab Creek empties into the Pacific Ocean.

Neskowin is approximately 90 miles southwest of Portland, Oregon.

The village features a fabulous general store that makes custom meals and somehow manages to have everything

you may need.  Adjacent to the store is Hawks Creek Cafe which offers a full service drink and food menu in a

beautiful setting right on Hawks Creek.

Neskowin Area

10 miles south of Neskowin is Lincoln City where you can find every support service and ammenity you may want, from gambling casinos, to restaurants, surf shops, factory outlet stores, liquor stores, pharmacies, and grocery stores.  The drive from Lincoln City is a beautiful drive over the Cascade Head, winding through the trees.

Just 10 miles north of Neskowin is Pacific City, with a nice variety of restaurants (our favorite is Pelican Pub and Brewery which sits right on the beach), its famous dory boat launches, more beach, and the Nestucca River.   If cheese is your thing, 30 miles north of Neskowin is Tillamook and its world famous cheese and ice cream factory.

For the nature lover and hiker, Cascade Head is just south of Neskowin and is known for great hikes and The Nature Conservancy Cascade Head Preserve which protects rare native prairie grasses, wildflowers, and the Oregon silverspot butterfly.  A few miles north of Neskowin is the Nestucca Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

Nestucca Bay is famous for fishing, kayaking, and we enjoy it for stand up paddle boarding as well.

The bay is a great spot for collecting crabs and clams as well (more information here).  Nestucca Bay is formed

by the confluence of the Nestucca River and the Little Nestucca River, both premier steelhead, salmon, and

trout fisheries (state fishing report)(private guide website and summary).  Of course, just south of Neskowin is

also the Salmon River, another gem for kayaking, fishing, and exploring.
